A day before the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the United States announced new sanctions on a range of terrorist groups and their supporters including Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hamas, al Qaeda, and the Islamic State. The sanctions also targeted group leaders, and entities affiliated with the groups. The sanctions follow President Trump’s executive order to modernize counterterrorism efforts and will block US business dealings with targets as well as any property that the targets may have in the United States.
