Trending Theme: U.S. Facial Recognition Data Hacked

According to a statement by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials, a U.S. federal sub-contractor had been hacked. This hack has resulted in the theft of thousands of facial images. The agency maintains a database of passport and visa photos that is used at airports as part of an agency facial-recognition program. The facial-recognition program of CBP has also collected thousands of images at the southern border for the purpose of border surveillance. CBP has declined to clarify which images were stolen and how many people were affected.
