After being sworn in as president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky disbanded parliament and called for early elections. The snap elections could allow President Zelensky to achieve a parliamentary majority, without which it will be difficult for him to pass reforms. As of the inauguration, Ukraine’s parliament is dominated by the bloc of former President Petro Poroshenko, Zelensky’s opponent during the campaign. President Zelensky has said that his top priority will be to end the separatist conflict in the country’s east. He is also expected to tackle widespread corruption in the country.
