UK Attorney General Geoffrey Cox has traveled to Brussels today as part of ongoing negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union over the former’s impending withdrawal from the EU. The UK government is eager to gain further concessions from the EU before a March 12 vote in Parliament, but sources close to the government suggest that this latest effort is not likely to succeed.
If the UK cannot decide upon a deal before March 29, it will leave the EU in a divorce that will drastically affect business operations, border crossings, and a host of other concerns. Previous votes on Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal have resulted in a series of defeats for the Prime Minister. Talks of delaying Brexit has been floated with greater urgency as the deadline approaches and if May’s deal once again is voted down in Parliament, then Parliament will vote on a measure to delay the UK’s exit from the EU.
