After months of protests that initially started in December last year, Sudanese President Omar-Al-Bashir has been removed from power and detained by the Army. The veteran leader, who came to power following a coup in 1989, was one of Africa's longest serving presidents. While the fate of the country is still unclear, it has been reported that a transitional military council will govern the country for the next two years. Thousands have already gathered around the Army headquarters to celebrate the landmark accomplishment of forcing this change. However, other demonstrators are calling for a civilian government and expressing concern over an administration led by military and security figures.
