Just days after North Korea conducted two short-range missile tests, Pyongyang has rejected a request for dialogue from South Korea’s president Moon Jae-in. A statement released from North Korea blamed its southern neighbors for the deadlock, indicating their aversion toward further discussions with South Korea. North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, has described the missile tests as a response to continued joint military drills between the US and South Korea. Despite the testing of short-range missiles, North Korea has thus far maintained its agreement with the US to unilaterally suspend its nuclear and long-range missile tests.
