News outlets have thus far confirmed that 49 people have been murdered and another 48 injured today during a terrorist attack at 2 mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. An 87-page manifesto authored by a shooter railed against Muslims and proclaimed far-right, anti-immigrant beliefs. The manifesto text resembled that of Norwegian extremist Anders Breivik, who murdered 77 people in 2011. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has declared it as "one of New Zealand's darkest days" and the tragedy marks over 20 years since such an attack has taken place in the country.
