Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has threatened to end Iranian compliance with the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) also known as the Iran Nuclear Deal. President Rouhani has given the remining signatories of the agreement – China, France, Russia, Germany, and the UK - sixty days to demonstrate that they can protect Iran’s oil and banking sectors from U.S. sanctions. Since leaving the JCPOA one year ago, Washington has substantially increased pressure on Iran both economically and militarily. Iran now threatens to resume enrichment of uranium and ignore stockpile caps of enriched uranium and heavy water that have prevented Iran from quickly developing nuclear weapons.
