In response to increased pressure from Washington over Iran’s nuclear program, Iran is reportedly increasing its production of low-enriched uranium fourfold. This move to limit compliance with the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal comes just shortly after the United States deployed an aircraft carrier to the region and ordered some government employees to leave neighboring Iraq. Under the agreement, Iran had been allowed to produce a maximum of 300 kg of low-enriched uranium. While Iran has committed to keeping enrichment levels far below weapons-grade levels, it remains unclear how close the country is to exceeding the 300kg limit.
