In the wake of the devastating fire that destroyed large sections of Notre Dame Cathedral, hundred of millions of euros have been pledged to pay for the costs of reconstruction. The Pinault and Arnault families have stated that they would donate 100 million and 200 million Euros, respectively, and the French oil company Total has pledged an additional €100 million. Other companies such as Bouygues, Vinci, Groupe Duval, and Societe General have announced they will donate to the reconstruction effort.
Countries such as Spain, Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom have also offered to send restoration experts and other forms of aid. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has suggested that she is likely to organize a conference for international donors to pledge further funds, and it is also expected that numerous other fundraising efforts will take place across the world.
