Chinese telecom giant Huawei has taken action against the U.S. government for banning U.S. companies from cooperating with Huawei. In a press conference held on May 29, 2019, Huawei’s chief legal officer confirmed that Huawei filed a 'motion for summary judgment' against the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2019 at the eastern district court of Texas. This new legal action requests that the court remove section 889 of the NDAA which prohibits executive government agencies from procuring telecommunication equipment from Huawei. Thus far, Japan and Australia are following the conduct of the U.S. in restricting Huawei’s 5G installation, while the United Kingdom and many other European countries have chosen to delay their response to the issue.
