Trending Theme: Huawei CFO to Sue Canada

Meng Wanzhou, the Chief Financial Officer of the Chinese tech company Huawei, has filed civil charges against the Canadian government over her arrest in December. She claims that her arrest was “arbitrary” and “unlawful” and that her civil rights were violated. Meng was arrested on suspicion of violating US sanctions on Iran and was formally charged with doing so by the US in January.

In addition to Ms. Meng’s suit, sources close to Huawei say that the company is preparing to sue the US government on the grounds that the US National Defense Authorization Act of 2018 unfairly targets certain organizations for punishment without trial.
