Much of Europe is facing an intense heatwave that has reached record-breaking temperatures and resulted in at least 5 deaths. On July 25, 2019, a red alert was issued in parts of northern France with the temperature in Paris soaring to 41.7 degrees Celsius. On the same day, temperatures in The Netherlands set a record high at 39.3 degrees Celsius. Belgium, Germany, and the United Kingdom are also battling extreme heat with record-breaking temperatures. Such heatwaves are expected to become more frequent as a result of climate change. The abnormal temperatures put pressure on farmers and will directly affect local agriculture and its related industries.
