European Union leaders are considering whether to offer Prime Minister Theresa May an extension on Brexit during this week's summit in Brussels. The biggest challenge this will face is convincing all European leaders to agree to this, as any delay will need to be agreed upon by all 27 EU member states. The German Chancellor Angela Merkel has already said that she will fight until the "final hour" of 29 March to avoid a no-deal Brexit, but it is not known whether all other member states share the same sentiment on this matter. In addition, the UK Parliament must vote to allow for an extension before the EU can formally grant permission for one. Sources from Downing Street have yet to confirm the final Cabinet decision as to the length of the requested extension.
