According to CNN and Itahleti, Finland Social Democrats claimed a narrow victory with 17.7% of votes with the anti-immigration runner-up Finns Party claiming 17.5% of votes, the National Coalition Party gathering 17%, and Center Party gathering 13.8%. According to Reuters, this is the first time in a century that no party has gathered more than 20% of votes in the country and coalition talks are likely to be retracted. The slim margin of 0.2% is a potentially dangerous indicator of rising nationalistic sentiments that could escalate to even further extremist ideology.
