Caucasus S-500 Placement Forecasts Regional Tensions

The S-500 Prometheus (RUS: C-500 Прометей) or 55R6M "Triumfator-M" is a missile system currently being developed by Almaz-Antey for the Russian Federation and slated for release in 2020. It reportedly has an operational range of 600 kilometers or 370 miles and is to work with the current Russian S-400 Triumf (RUS: C-400 Триумф) missile system, which was designed by Almaz-Antey and manufactured by Fakel Machine-Building Design Bureau. The S-500 appears to be the spiritual counterpart to the United States Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile system, but with a larger operational range capability.

S-500 placement in Yerevan, Armenia.

Should the S-500 missile system be placed in the Russian 102nd Military Base in Gyumri, Armenia or its associated air base in Yerevan, then the entire Caucasus and neighboring countries will experience an exponential rise in tensions.
